Thanks, MIke

God Bless Mike Illitch and everything he's done for the city of Detroit. He's so excited that the Tigers have made a profit for the FIRST TIME since he bought the team 14 YEARS AGO that he's looking forward to spending even more money on projects to rejuvinate downtown Detroit. Also debating whether to renovate the Joe or build the Wings a new stadium. (I vote renovation! We've won 3 Cups there!!!) It's great to see someone with so much faith in the D -and the resources to contribute to his dreams for the city.

This, my liberal friends, is one of the many benefits of capitalism. Illitch started out with a pizza parlor, now he's almost single-handedly rebuilding a city

Darn that Bush.

The Dow just reached its all-time high this morning.

If I hear ONE MORE democrat try to say the economy's bad...or as my father used to say, "Don't confuse me with the facts - my mind's made up".

Darn that Bush. It's all his fault.

Reality Check on Global Warming

UPDATE: If you didn't think this was a joke before, get a load of this. Algore now claiming cigarettes are a "significant contributor to global warming!"

Yikes. What a nut. Maybe the fact that he was literally SELLING HIS BOOK to the UN diplomats after his little speech had something to do with his speech...

Yes, this again... it just doesn't seem to go away. This is an excellant, comprehensive letter written by Sen. James Inhofe (Chairman - Senate Environment and Public Works Committee) debunking all of this man-made global warming dung. It's a long letter, but well worth the read.

Some excerpts:

The National Academy of Sciences report reaffirmed the existence of the Medieval Warm Period from about 900 AD to 1300 AD and the Little Ice Age from about 1500 to 1850. Both of these periods occurred long before the invention of the SUV or human industrial activity could have possibly impacted the Earth’s climate. In fact, scientists believe the Earth was warmer than today during the Medieval Warm Period, when the Vikings grew crops in Greenland.

It is very simplistic to feign horror and say the one degree Fahrenheit temperature increase during the 20th century means we are all doomed.

Alarmists fail to adequately explain why temperatures began warming at the end of the Little Ice Age in about 1850, long before man-made CO2 emissions could have impacted the climate. Then about 1940, just as man-made CO2 emissions rose sharply, the temperatures began a decline that lasted until the 1970’s, prompting the media and many scientists to fear a coming ice age. Let me repeat, temperatures got colder after C02 emissions exploded.

There have been recent findings in peer-reviewed literature over the last few years showing that the Antarctic is getting colder and the ice is growing and a new study in Geophysical Research Letters found that the sun was responsible for 50% of 20th century warming.

The history of the modern environmental movement is chock full of predictions of doom that never came true.

Condi Speaks Up

Condi's reaction to Clinton's temper tantrum...

Some excerpts:

"The notion somehow for eight months the Bush administration sat there and didn't do that (try to kill Bin Laden) is just flatly false - and I think the 9/11 commission understood that," Rice said during a wide-ranging meeting with Post editors and reporters.

"What we did in the eight months was at least as aggressive as what the Clinton administration did in the preceding (8) years," Rice added.

The secretary of state also sharply disputed Clinton's claim that he "left a comprehensive anti-terror strategy" for the incoming Bush team during the presidential transition in 2001.

"We were not left a comprehensive strategy to fight al Qaeda," Rice responded during the hourlong session

She also said Clinton's claims that Richard Clarke - the White House anti-terror guru hyped by Clinton as the country's "best guy" - had been demoted by Bush were bogus.

"Richard Clarke was the counterterrorism czar when 9/11 happened. And he left when he did not become deputy director of homeland security, some several months later," she said.

And on the war on terror:

Transitioning to the global war on terror, an animated Rice questioned, "When are we going to stop blaming ourselves for the rise of terrorism?"

Asked about recently leaked internal U.S. intelligence estimates that claimed the Iraq war was fueling terrorist recruiting, Rice said: "Now that we're fighting back, of course they are fighting back, too."

"I find it just extraordinary that the argument is, all right, so they're using the fact they're being challenged in the Middle East and challenged in Iraq to recruit, therefore you've made the war on terrorism worse.

"It's as if we were in a good place on Sept. 11. Clearly, we weren't," she added.

"These are people who want to fight against us, and they're going to find a reason. And yes, they will recruit, but it doesn't mean you stop pursuing strategies that are ultimately going to stop them," Rice said.

Who's Your Tiger?

Yea! The Tigers make the playoffs for the first time since 1987!!! It's felt like an alternate universe in the D this summer...

In other news, just to assure us that we are, indeed, still grounded in reality-- the Lions continue to find new and excited ways to lose. But hey, as the announcers kept cheerfully reminding us --at least Favre and the Packers finally found a way to win! It's been so difficult for them thus far this season. For all their practices and gameplans, who knew all along, all they really had to do to find that winning ingredient was play the Lions!

On another note, still not sure what happened Saturday... was it just the luck of the Irish or typical MSU choking and unable to string together any semblence of a winning season??? At any rate, it was definitely painful to watch. Hoping the Irish defense can step it up and regroup when they play Purdue this Saturday.

In other news, Clinton looked like he was a Spartan fan during this recent interview with Fox News' Chris Wallace... I honestly feared he'd start rioting at any moment... He gets violent when you question is "legacy"

Blood Boiling...

...can hardly contain myself. Want to start smacking liberals...

So let me get this straight. We found the U.N. We put up 2/3 of the U.N. budget. We allow those ungrateful, corrupt, despots to meet on American soil (in prime NYC real estae, I might add). And how do they reward us? By turning the U.N. into an American-bashing extravaganza. Actually inviting a dictator who participated in taking U.S. hostages for over 300 days in his country in 1980, a dictator who denies the Holocost happened, a dictator who openly states that Israel has no right to exist --a DICTATOR to come and give a speech about how the U.N. and world should be more democratic. And he gets applause. Today Chavez is up there waving an American liberal favoriate --Noam Chomsky-- and calling Bush the devil. And he gets applause.

The time has come when the U.N. has reached total irrelevance. When Chavez and the Freak of Iran get more applause than the President of the United States, that organization has announced to the world how warped its views are and just how irrelevant it truly is.

(Will you hear any American Democrats complain about this treatment? Of course not. They agree with these freaks that Bush is the biggest threat to the world. In fact, their rhetoric of hatred has given these men license to come to American soil and call our president the devil. After all, the Liberals think he's Hitler --why not the devil, too? (if only they believed in the devil))

It is time for us to pull out of the U.N. and kick those bastards off our soil. NOW.

Update: I stand corrected. Props to Rangel for acting like an American. Even Pelosi is acting American! She called Chavez a "thug" for his attacks on Dubya. My faith in our government is somewhat restored... Mind you, I still wouldn't mind fighting ignorance by smacking a liberal or two. After all, it is their vicious attacks on Bush that haven given these kooks the impression that they can get away with coming to our country and trashing our prez. at the U.N. But I am proud to see these ardent Bush opponents standing up for the president of the U.S.A.

Delusional Liberal Kook of the Week

This one goes to the entire state of California. What a bunch of whackos out there! (sorry to the few conservatives struggling to survive in that socialist bastion...)

Wow. Suing car makers in a global warming lawsuit.

In my opinion, I think the auto industry should ban together and agree not to sell cars in California any longer. They should be forced to go back to horse and carriage or donkeys or whatever they want out there that doesn't emit any of those nasty greenhouse gasses.

So. Ridiculous.

Why?

I read kid related blogs now. Yeah, suprise suprise.

Can someone please explain to me why this post is necessary? Read the comments and explain to me where these idiots are coming from? (there's ONE voice of reason. ONE.)

Here's an exerpt to show you the level of stupidity we're dealing with:

I've never really thought about where our school teachers get their material from, but I guess it's something I should consider. What children learn in school helps form the fabric of our collective futures. (unfortunately, yes, that seems to be the case) Apparently, Scholastic is the company that publishes the texts that many public schools use to formulate their lessons. In the editorial, JM Peter Rundlet examines the content of Scholastic, which his daughter learns from at school. He believes that Scholastic is "often loaded with deceptive, pro-war political propaganda and rewrites history to promote a political agenda among our young people. " Whoa.

Those are some big accusations. But he does offer some compelling reasons (emphasis mine) for his beliefs: he says that Scholastic teamed up with ABC to write a 9/11 history that falsely suggests a tie between Iraq and September 11, inaccurate reporting of Iraq's WMD claims, and provides upbeat accounts of reportedly dire conditions on the ground in both Iraq and Afghanistan, among others. (oh, PuhLEASE!!)

I can't get away from the libs. Even on parenting/kids blogs. This particular site won't post my comments because evidentally I say things they don't like, so posting on MY blog is my only way to say how exactly I feel about them.

Anyone know of good parenting sites and/or blogs I can visit without raising my blood pressure?

There he goes again...

That Dubya. Looks like his poll ratings have really jumped... which usually happens when he decides to go out and give speeches explaining his policies. (Keep in mind that this was taken before his big speech at the U.N. today, which I've heard kicked a**, though I haven't had the chance to catch any clips of yet...) So Bush goes out and speaks for a couple weeks, a few speeches, and already polls are showing an even split about Iraq being a "mistake."

AND the gap between Democrats and Republicans among likely voters is also closing...

I'm not saying the GOP won't lose some seats, but the Dems are deluding themselves if they think it will be some huge landslide. What this really shows is that you should never underestimate Dubya... he's come back time and again to stick it to his detractors. And if he can change opinion like this in two weeks, imagine if he keeps it up into November???

Irony.

So I don't have much to say that hasn't already been said about this so-called religion of peace shooting nuns in the back and calling for the Pope's assasination.

However I was listening to a radio program today that isn't exactly liberal and isn't really conservative either. (they have that kind of thing down here.) Anyway, the host of the show said that these muslim extremists are "red line" crazy and there's not much we can do to make them crazier. We CAN do something that will make them happy though - convert or die. I choose...um...neither, thanks.

But the irony of them taking exception to the Pope's remarks by exploding in senseless violence is kind of funny if it wasn't so tragic.

Some guy called in and said we weren't fighting the war correctly. (yeah, I almost drove off the road) We need to go find mercenaries to take out the different cells in our country and others. We should ask the PLO and the IRA and other organizations to help us. Um...wouldn't the "give the terrorists Korans don't torture them heavens don't play loud music or make them uncomfortable" crowd just LOVE that?

So let me get this straight. We're supposed to coddle them and not insult them in any way, yet we should kill them one by one using mercenaries and terrorist organizations? Wuh?

To the host's credit he said what Hannity said earlier and that is to kill. the. enemy. Period. These so-called alternate patriots should realize that the way to support and protect the troops is to allow them to seek out and destroy those who want to destroy us. By any means necessary. ANY means, people.

Red line crazy. That's my new phrase.

TV blogging...

Yeah, okay, so I'm a sucker for a new show on TV. I had high hopes for the new show "Justice" (on FOX) because it had Sidney's dad as the main lawyer guy and it was directed by Jerry Bruckheimer. It looked slick and well-written. I DVR'd it and watched it hoping I'd like it.

I did...but I was pretty amused by the anti-conservative digs they got in every chance they got. I think they've caught the "Law and Order" disease where they think everyone thinks like they do. My favorite comment so far was when they were choosing a jury in the pilot episode and they didn't want this one guy because he was a conservative and therefore not very empathetic. Cracked me up. (in the end it was that guy - the foreman - who aquitted their client...)

At least I have a sense of humor about it now. AND I watched the second episode which contained more snide, elitist comments against conservatives. I wondered what I'd tell my daughter when she's old enough to ask why we're Republicans when everyone on TV and on the news says we're stupid and not empathetic and don't know how to have fun. I'd better start rehearsing now, eh? Either that or block everything but Food Network.

Have a great weekend, ya'll.
DP

p.s. Speaking of TV, Rosie O'Donnell is a moron. I KNEW this would happen when she joined The View...and I'm sure poor Elizabeth Hasselbeck is about to kill her. Needless to say I don't watch it anymore. I could put up with the stupidity because it was fluffy entertainment to have on in the background some mornings. But now we have a hateful, militant, ignorant idiot on the panel and I have NO desire to pollute my living room with it.

Behind enemy lines...

Hello again! It's the Patriotette writing from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Land of kooks and nuts, new age fanatics and bad drivers. (we also have beautiful mountains and 300 days of sun...so I guess it all evens out somewhat)

Sorry about not being around a lot (ahem...or at ALL), but being a new mom has been taking up all my free time! The little princess is finally napping on a regular schedule and for more than twenty minutes at a time so hopefully I'll be able to blog more often. I know the Sage will appreciate the break.

I am constantly amazed at the liberal-mindedness in this state. Albuquerque isn't nearly as bad as Santa Fe, but it's way more liberal than good ol' New Fallujah. At least in New Fallujah I didn't feel hot pokers digging into my skull when I drove around with my "W04" sticker on my car. I recently went to Santa Fe and I wasn't sure if I'd make it out alive. I've never seen so many hippies in one place in my life!

Thank God I still have Rush and Hannity on talk radio down here.

The good thing about being a new mom is that my priorities are a lot different now then they were. I don't get quite as upset about the liberal antics as I used to, but it's still fun to listen to Rush go off on his tirades about it all. (I have GOT to get that "Rush Baby on Board" sign for my car. And go back to Santa Fe with it. Heh.)

Anyway, all that to say that I hope I'll be able to blog again - I've missed ya'll!! The Sage will probably end up being the reigning authority on all things politics and I'll be interjecting snippets of life in New Mexico, kid-related stuff (my four-month old has a TOOTH??!!), and the occasional rant about the weenie liberals down here.

Love,
The Patriotette

The President Speaks

Dubya gave a great speech last night to mark the 5th anniversary of 9/11. If anyone wonders why I like the guy, his speech last night was a prime example.

But then, I wasn't watching it frothing at the mouth seeing hallucinations of Hitler on the screen...

Unfortunately, our friendly congressmen on both sides are up in arms about how "partisan" the speech was or wasn't.

To think that speech was partisan is really a sad commentary on our times. Bush is our president, like it or not. He is the commander in chief of our armed services and our armed services are currently at war. Using the emotion and memory of 9/11 to remind us all of the danger terrorism presents and our current strategy for fighting the war on terror is not partisan, it's what he should be doing as the commander in chief.

Those who don't agree we should be in Iraq are misguided, but there will always be detractors in a free society. But because they might not agree doesn't change the fact that the U.S. armed services are over there to fight for a cause our commander in chief belives in and that the Congress has voted to fund. We should stand together.

Unfortunately, aside from a few photo-ops and choruses of God Bless America for about a week after 9/11, the Democrats quickly reverted to their normal state of being as vehemently anti-Bush as they were during campaign season. It's sad, it's pathetic. And for them to be screaming about how partisan the president's speech was last night shows they continue to live up to the hypocrisy I've come to expect from them.

On another note --Very light blogging for the rest of the week. The Sage is taking another vacation. Will be far removed from politics and the business world (yea!). If any of you haven't experienced the pristine beauty and soul-rejuvination of Up North, Michigan, I highly recommend it. Look forward to everyone's comments and the run up to mid terms upon my return.

Oh, and don't forget that we want Michigan's one and only loss of the season to be this Saturday.

Go Irish!!!

Remembering 9/11

We should never forget exactly how we felt on that day, 5 years ago, nor the victims' and their families' sorrow, nor the lessons we learned from this terrible attack; lessons about our enemy, as well as what it means to be an American. That patriotism and pride we all felt --if we continue to remember that, the terrorists have already lost this war.

In the spririt of this anniversary, I'm not going to write anything political this week. Let's just remember, give thanks for our blessings, and reflect on the lessons of 9/11.

My blurb for the week is about the ABC 9/11 special --I must say, I was riveted to the TV and can't wait to watch the rest tonight. Though it doesn't look like most Americans could tear themselves away from the great football last night... at least we have our priorities, right???

Poor Eli. What a terrible interception late in the game --the Giants definitely had ample opportunity to win that one. Oh, well.

Speaking of football, how 'bout those college games this weekend? Was quite sorry to see Texas lose, but what can you expect with a rookie QB against the #1 team in the nation? They put up a good fight. (Say it with me --Oh how I hate, Ohio State) Now looking forward to this Saturday, when Michigan ventures to South Bend to take on the #2 ranked Fighting Irish. (both teams had huge wins this week; ironically both 41-17 scores, though Notre Dame's opponent was a bit more challenging...) Go Irish!

Friday, September 8

Typical

Wow. So the special prosecuter knew all along that it was Armitage, not Cheney or poor old Scooter Libby, that "leaked" the identiy of Plame. When this story had the potential to damage Bush and Cheney, the salivating MSM couldn't get enough of it. Now the truth is out, and you don't here a blurb. Sad, but so typical.

His Legacy Threatened.... Duh duh duh...

The Dems are up in arms over the ABC "docu-drama" about the events leading up to 9/11. (Scheduled to air Sunday and Monday nights, unless the Dems have their way)

Why all the panic? Why the fury? Why did the Clintons need to send out their minions to the 24-hour-news stations to demean all the "false" and "misleading" elements in a movie they had never even seen?

So let me get this stright... It's OK for Michael Moore to put together a pile of rubbish and outlandish kook conspiracy theories, casting Bush in the most diabolical light. The movie that people in Middle Eastern countries now use as propaganda to recruit more terrorists and that causes our idiotic neighbors to the north to think America is to blame for 9/11 --that was OK. And it was OK for Barbara Streisands's hubby to portray the greatest president of the 20th century, for that docudrama to paint the Reagans in the worst light.

But now, a docu-drama based on the 9/11 COMMISSION REPORT --this, they have a big problem with? There's outrage! Ahhh -Clinton's manufactured legacy! What will become of it?!???!!!!

Believe me, folks, they wouldn't be freaking out like this if there wasn't more truth than fiction in this docu-drama.

And I understand it doesn't let the Bush administration off the hook either, but you don't see them caterwauling like the Clintons.

Well, they've got me hooked. I'm even going to forgo watching the entire Manning v. Manning match-up Sunday night in NY to see what all the hype is about. The Clintons can wail all they want; this will be the highest rated thing ABC has probably aired in a long time and I don't see them pulling it any time soon...

Props to Mitt

As you may have noticed, The Sage has been on vacation recently. Hopefully, our blogging will resume it's regular, enthralling pace as summer fades to fall.

Had to write a brief note recognizing a man of principal. It's good to see for a change! (especially from a politician) For some reason, maybe the same reason they give awards named after pudding to communist loving actors, Harvard decided to invite the former PM of Iran to speak at their fair institution. Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney refused any state security for this freak!

An excerpt:

``There are people in this state who have suffered from terrorism, and taking even a dollar of their money to support a terrorist is unacceptable," Romney, a potential candidate for the Republican Party's 2008 presidential nomination, said in a telephone interview yesterday.
