Democrat Candidates Flip Flop on Iraq, but Remain Consistant on Tax Increases

Apparently, the Dems had a debate last night. Bummer, I missed it. (I still haven't figured out my TV's closed caption option, which is the only way I can "listen" to Hillary without permanently scarring my ears...)

Now that the frontrunners are faced with actual responsibility, they can't commit that they'll pull the troops out of Iraq any time soon. (maybe Sheehan should forget Pelosi and run for president!) However, they don't shy away from discussing their willingness to raise our taxes.

We ought to change their name to the "Liars and Looters Party" - so much more accurate...

Proof that Global Warming is a Political Hoax

We all knew this was coming -- with all of the doom and gloom attention given to global warming by the "drive-by media" and politicians who fly across the country in private jets and use more electricity in one month in one of their houses than the average American household uses in a year --we all knew they were leading up to something. Feel guilty, they told us. The world will end in ten years unless we do something to "combat global warming." As if our using one square of toilette paper and driving a hybrid will someone make the sun activity calm down enough to change the earth's temperature! But apparently, the special light bulbs and giving up tangerines will not be enough. No, we must also raise your taxes.

So while some of us will feel good that we're doing something to help the environment by paying taxes that have absolutely no effect on the environment, our economy will also suffer.

Wow - you have to love Democrats!

Now that's a die heard fan!

I can't believe I never posted about this when it happened! Apparently former Dearborn police officer and his wife are only facing a misdemeanor for their stoned antics last spring. And I'm glad to hear it's not more - the story was too funny for any more serious charges and, after all, he did lose his job.

To summarize: After confiscating the pot, this police officer took it home and he and his wife decided to make brownies with it. Apparently, it was some pretty good chronic because they ended up calling 911 to say that they were "dying." However, the man still had the presence of mind to ask the dispatcher for the score of the Wings playoff game...

I highly encourage you to click the link above and listen to the 911 call.

Columbia Welcomes Terrorist Sponsor with Open Arms

By now I'm sure you've all heard about Columbia rolling out the red carpet to today's guest speaker, Mahmoud Ahwannjihad, the Freak of Iran.

I'm all for free speech for American citizens, but this guy has no right venturing outside the legal radius of the U.N. It's bad enough the Useless Nations is letting him speak without having one of our universities giving credence to this nuclear bomb-seeking, terrorist-supporting, Holocost-denying freakshow.

I know Columbia's Ivy League and they're all far more enlightened than me. In fact, their Dean announced that he would invite Hitler to speak at his university if he had the opportunity. But what educational benefit does Columbia hope to provide its students from giving this guy a platform? Do they honestly want to hear a debate about how the Holocost didn't happen? Or how Israel should be wiped off the face of the earth? Or would they rather hear about Ahwannjihad's tryannical practices in his own country - censorship, hanging people who dress too western and speak against him. (how's that for free speech, Dean?) Or maybe they want to learn more about what he's doing to kill American soldiers in Iraq??

At least everyone's not taking this travesty sitting down.

I just hope the students who attend this speech give this freak hell. I hope they fire rude, tough questions at him and embarrass him. Do you think there's any chance they could redeem the mindset of American youth??? They have that chance.

The Woes of Kwame

New Fallujah's thug mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick, was "stunned" by the verdict announced earlier this week in the whistle-blower trial. I'm sure he was stunned -- usually his antics just lead to a re-election. But unfortunately for Kilpatrick, the jury wasn't so stunned - they took all of 3 hours to decide in favor of the dismissed police officers.

Essentially the mayor was accused of dismissing the officers after they began investigating misdeeds by Kwame's posse -I mean, security staff: DUI cover ups, falsified overtime records, partying with strippers at the mayor's house, helping to facilitate and cover up the mayor's extra-marital affairs - you know, the usual stuff you expect from your government.

I will say that Kwame has done some good things for the D, but he needs to grow up and be a leader. His conduct should be most embarrassing to him, and the residents of Detroit who re-elected him.

It's just too bad Kwame wasn't a U.S. Democrat senator - then they'd just appoint him the head of an important committee and move on...

Liberal Kook of the Week

This week's honors go to Hobbton High School in North Carolina. They've banned students from wearing any items with flags on them - including the American flag.

I don't care how many "disturbances" they've have there because of other flags, this is downright anti-American and wrong. The school should be ashamed.

They even beat all those patriotic Democrat senators implying that our General Petraus is lying about conditions in Iraq, or maybe it was just because I was too appalled and disgusted by the travesty that is our Congress to write about them just now... Guess that's what we have Rudy for.

Ted Kennedy Revealed as new Bin Laden speechwriter

BREAKING NEWS: You may have heard about the new Bin Laden tape creating much buzz in the media, but Conservababes has just learned that "The Swimmer" has shifted his alliances in keeping with the new times from communist officials trying to help the Soviets win the Cold War to Islamo facsists. In payment for writing his speeches, Bin Laden has agreed not to build windmills off the Hyannis coast, to lift all alcohol taxes when he takes over the world, and to have Rush Limbaugh beheaded.

(In all seriousness- does anyone actually think this tape is real? I would have at least changed up the color of the SAME CLOTHES he was wearing in a three-year-old tape when I did that terrible beard photoshopping...)

Up to their old tricks

Those Clintons...

Tuesday, September 4

Who does he think he's fooling?

President Bush made a surprise trip to Iraq yesterday and landed in Australia today for the APEC summit.

Maybe he thinks his travel plans will deflect attention from sending two hurricanes at the poor of Mexico -but he's wrong! We know. And these hurricanes, coming several weeks after Karl Rove's resignation announcement, are further proof that President Bush can control the weather on his own. I hope the Mexicans hold him responsible for this and the world community speaks out before he lets global warming get completely out of control.

Reality Check

This story's a few years old, but we could all use a reminder about all those "poor" people the benevolent John Edwards and his commi ilk want to redistribute income to.

As this story suggests, there are a few other things we could encourage in their lives to raise their standard of living than by bringing down the overall standard of healthcare in America...

Overall, the typical American defined as poor by the government has a car, air conditioning, a refrigerator, a stove, a clothes washer and dryer, and a microwave. He has two color televisions, cable or satellite TV reception, a VCR or DVD player, and a stereo. He is able to obtain medical care. His home is in good repair and is not overcrowded. By his own report, his family isn't hungry, and he had sufficient funds in the past year to meet his family's essential needs. While this individual's life is not opulent, it is equally far from the popular images of dire poverty conveyed by the press, activists and politicians.

Even better news is that remaining poverty can readily be reduced, especially among children. Child poverty in the U.S. is caused largely by low levels of parental work and by the absence of fathers from the home. While work and two-parent families are the surest ladders out of poverty, the welfare system continues to reward idleness while failing to provide support to keep families in tact.

Liberal Kook of the Week

It's John Edwards again! I know I compare liberals to communists often, but Edwards is more communist than most. Not only does he want us to give up our SUVs and tangerines, he wants to socialize our health care and then FORCE people to go to the doctor.

Now consider - who's decision should it be whether or not you go to the doctor?? The government's, or yours?

RI-DI-CU-LOUS!

Sadly, I'm sure this plan will appeal to some of the mouchers and lazy out there --the ones with nothing to give, no value, no claim to anything save their "need." When maybe what they "need" to do is fork over $100 a month for health insurance instead of paying for cable or satellite TV, a cell phone, their air conditioning bill, second car, second television, etc.

Shock, Awe, Disgust...

No, I'm not talking about the latest footage of Hillary on the news last night... I'm talking about the most pathetic Saturday of college football I can remember since Boston University announced during half time of its Homecoming game that it was cutting its football program.
(sorry- still bitter about that)

Obviously, the most disgusting Saturday fiasco was the Michigan-Appalachian State upset. For those U of M fans out there, this story should make you feel better (I would just advise you not to read the comments...). Personally, Lloyd's retirement can't come early enough - not if this is how he "prepares" his team for games. You'd think he'd have a little more pride coming after yet another PATHETIC bowl game last winter.

The upset shocked Michigan alums across the nation. My personal favorite was Jeter (the only Yankee I like, as he's from Michigan):

Derek Jeter received lots of ribbing from his teammates after his favorite university, Michigan, which he attended for a semester, was upset by Appalachian State Saturday.

"We were trying to hold off telling him until after the game, but the people in here are ruthless," Torre said. "That's why I had to take him out of the game. He was depressed."

For all the latest on the upset, reaction and consequences, check out the other Free Press articles.

And a parting word to all the gloating Michigan State fans - enjoy your laughter and cheer now; your own team so seldom earns it for you. I hope you've finally found a team that can stay off the drugs long enough to win a few games. Talk to me next time your ranked.

Happy Labor Day, from Ayn Rand

Productiveness is your acceptance of morality, your recognition of the fact that you choose to live --that productive work is the process by which man's consciousness controls his existence, a constant process of acquiring knowledge and shaping matter to fit one's purpose, of translating an idea into physical form, of remaking the earth in the image of one's values --that all work is creative work if done by a thinking mind, and no work is creative if done by a blank who repeats in uncritical stupor a routine he has learned from others --that your work is yours to choose, and the choice is as wide as your mind, that nothing more is possible to you and nothing less is human --that to cheat your way into a job bigger than your mind can handle is to become a fear-corroded ape on borrowed motions and borrowed time, and to settle down into a job that requires less than your mind's full capacity is to cut your motor and sentence yourself to another kind of motion: decay --that your work is the process of achieving your values, and to lose your ambition for values is to lose your ambition to live --that your body is a machine, but your mind is its driver, and you must drive as far as your mind will take you, with achievement as the goal of your road --that the man who has no purpose is a machine that coasts downhill at the mercy of any boulder to crash in the first chance ditch, that the man who stifles his mind is a stalled machine slowly going to rust, that the man who lets a leader perscribe his course is a wreck being towed to the scrap heap, and the man who makes another man his goal is a hitchhiker no driver should ever pick up --that your work is the purpose of your life, and you must speed past any killer who assumes the right to stop you, that any value you might find outside your work, any other loyalty or love, can be only travelers you choose to share your journey and must be travelers going on their own power in the same direction.
