So I guess this is news.

If you search for Mitt Romney and Dog you come up with hundreds of stories about how 15 years ago, Mitt may or may not have been "cruel" to his dog by strapping a dog carrier to the roof of his car and driving 12 hours. FIFTEEN YEARS AGO!

First Chris Matthews asks him personal questions I wouldn't ask a good friend, and now this?

Shouldn't "Ted Kennedy kills woman" still be big news? How about how Sandy Berger stole documents? Bill Clinton's sex life?

I have to go take deep breaths somewhere quiet.

I am a traitor.

So says Ms. Charm School herself, Rosanne Barr:

IMPEACH THE PRESIDENT AND THE VICE PRESIDENT, THEY ARE TRAITORS TO AMERICA, AND SO ARE ALL OF THEIR SUPPORTERS. IMPEACH! ANYONE IN CONGRESS WHO REFUSES TO SAVE OUR UNION FROM THESE TRAITORS BY DOING NOTHING NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. SAVE OUR TROOPS!!! SAVE OUR SCHOOLS AND HOSPITALS AND JOBS. FEED OUR HUNGRY AND POOR! SAVE THE DROWNING PEOPLE IN NEW ORLEANS! ANYONE WHO MENTIONS PARIS HILTON ONE MORE TIME MUST DIE!

I agree with the last sentiment, to a point, but the rest? In all caps? Are we 12? (oh, and are people *still* drowning in New Orleans? I thought that was all over with.)

No other comment is necessary - at least for those of us with half a brain.

Speaking of not having the other half of one's brain - did anyone else see the photo that the other Charm School dropout posted on her site? The one of her daughter wearing an ammo belt? Is it just me or are people totally losing it lately?

UPDATE: oops. Her blog crashed. What a shame.

UPDATE II: Bush is a satanist and...some more senseless nonsense. If anyone can translate from LoonyLibSpeak to English, please do so. (yes, I visited the site again. What? It makes me feel better about myself to read utter and complete stupidity and ignorance sometimes. Which is also why I like to read some of our more liberal, close-minded commentors' remarks for entertainment)

London Terror Plot Thwarted

Thank God a car bombing terror plot in London was thwarted last night by some quick-thinking, alert citizens and the police officers they called. This article gives a detailed account of what we know happened (they're suspecting al queada involvement), but the best part of this link is the comments section. The British aren't too different from us - they also have their handful of crazy liberal kooks who think Bush, Blair and their own country are responsible for the murderous fanatacism of these terrorist freaks. But the majority of people know better and recognize the threat for what it is.

(Now if someone could just remind them that Saddam was a murderous, brutal, inhumane dictator who was violating U.N. resolutions left and right and had the entire world convinced of his WMD program, we'd be 100% on the same page...)

Amnesty on Hold

The Senate blocked the Bush-Kennedy amnesty bill today, apparently deciding it was a good idea to listen to the wishes of their constituents, after all. Now maybe they'll focus on that border security legislation they passed last summer...

Liberal Kooks of the Week

This week's honors go to the U.S.D.A. who have recently been granted $20 million to study sh*t. That's right, sh*t - in this case, how livestock manure contributes to global warming.

Aren't you thrilled to see your hard earned tax dollars at work?

Cheers, Tony

Tony Blair stepped down today as Britain's prime minister. I don't know much about his local politics, but I have great admiration for him for his strong, determined stance on the global war on terror. He showed great moral clarity and courage to stand against his own party and the majority of British public opinion in regards to Iraq, etc. (His articulate eloquence about this stance was also a refreshing change in those joint press conferences with Dubya...)

Sure, many Brits are glad to see him gone - their oversensative overreaction to his friendship with us no doubt stemming from their latent belief that we should still be their colonies or something. (Those English are proud, you know.)

And as far as how they regard their great leaders after they've been in office "too long" ... well, just ask Churchill and Thatcher.

Liberal Kook of the Week

How many times is Pelosi going to get this honor??

Republican Congressman Steve King wants to pass an amendment that would restrict taxpayer dollars being used to shuttle Ms. Pelosi to countries that sponsor terrorism. Sounds reasonable, right?

Pelosi's response (via her spokesman):

“How can anyone take this amendment seriously, especially when it comes on the same day that Bush Administration officials are in North Korea?[Yes- the key words being 'Bush Administration officials' - you know, the ones authorized by the Constitution to conduct foreign policy] And why would anyone think it is responsible to restrict the ability of the Speaker of the House to bring the concerns of the American people to foreign leaders? It is part of the Speaker’s job,” [um, no - actually, it's not] said spokesman Nadeam Elshami, a spokesman for Pelosi. “This amendment is a cheap political stunt that just won’t fly.”

A cheap political stunt was flying to Israel and Syria after the President had advised her not to, then dabbling in foreign affairs by misleading both the Israelis and Syrians, who were none too happy about her meddling. In fact, Israel had to issue an official correction after Pelosi's visit since the information she relayed to the Syrians was inaccurate. However, the Syrians were very appreciative of the lovely headscarf Pelosi donned for her tour.

If this amendment passes, we're afraid Ms. Pelosi will have to restrict her overseas trips to important glacier expeditions.

Assault on Free Speech

It's no secret that liberals extend tolerance only to those who agree with them. Anyone else --well, they need to be silenced and squashed into submission. It's just the facsist coming out in them.

Apparently, the Hildabeast and Babs Boxer support a "legislative fix" to the "problem" of conservative talk radio. Click here for the sound bite, but I warn you - this graphic image may cause uncomfortable nausea.

How could their position be construed as anything but facsist? The market (i.e. you, me and the rest of America) determines success in this country. It's a simple matter of supply and demand. The Nashville Predatores can't fill the seats at their arena, they lose their hockey team. The first few episodes of a new soap don't garnish a large enough audience, the soap is canceled. Air America provides liberal talk radio for all, no one wants to listen to liberal talk radio, Air America goes bankrupt. It's a pretty simple concept. And I have a news flash for Hillary and her ilk - 3 million Americans don't tune in to Rush Limbaugh every week because they don't have a liberal alternative.

LaShawn Barber had a great post on this yesterday I recommend - Airwave Envy II.

Can you imagine how the Democrats would feel if this so-called "Fairness Doctrine" they want to enforce extended to Hollywood? An equal number of conservative-themed movies with Republican actors and actresses must be made. How about the broadcast news? Guess we'll have to do away with MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, etc. and only have Fox and CNN - so it's "equal." This is the most idiotic thing I've heard from the Demorats recently (and that's saying a lot). But the thought that they are openly supporting stifling free speech in this manner is frightening.

UPDATE: In fairness (because this isn't a loony left wing blog) I have to add that Hillary and Boxer are denying the conversation about talk radio ever took place. Other members of her party (namely Ms. Pelosi) have openly stated they would like to pursue bringing back the so-called Fairness Doctrine, but I cannot find other record of Hillary publically supporting it.
However, Inhofe (per Drudge) is still standing by his account of their conversation. (my, my - I wonder who to believe? Hillary has always been known for her honesty and excellant recall...)

Global Cooling Update

No joke! Great article about how the sun is responsible for climate change.

Their conclusion:

...two-thirds of more than 530 climate scientists from 27 countries surveyed did not believe that "the current state of scientific knowledge is developed well enough to allow for a reasonable assessment of the effects of greenhouse gases." About half of those polled stated that the science of climate change was not sufficiently settled to pass the issue over to policymakers at all.

[now break to read what our idiots in Congress are trying to pass - link in the post below]

Solar scientists predict that, by 2020, the sun will be starting into its weakest Schwabe solar cycle of the past two centuries, likely leading to unusually cool conditions on Earth. Beginning to plan for adaptation to such a cool period, one which may continue well beyond one 11-year cycle, as did the Little Ice Age, should be a priority for governments. It is global cooling, not warming, that is the major climate threat to the world, especially Canada.

UPDATE: Someone who gets it - Czech president Vaclav Klaus. I wish some of our leaders (cough- Bush) would have the guts to stand up to the environmentalist nazis.

Excerpt:

Vaclav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic, argues in the Financial Times that ambitious environmentalism is the biggest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy and prosperity.

Mr Klaus writes that “global warming hysteria has become a prime example of the truth versus propaganda problem” and the issue “is more about social than natural sciences and more about man and his freedom than about tenths of a degree Celsius changes in average global temperature.”

It's Official

Congress stinks. Their confidence level is at an all-time low - even HMO's are slightly better regarded than Congress these days. Maybe if they actually tried to represent the views of their constituents instead of fighting for amnesty bills, we might at least bring that confidence level up to the low 20s...

On another note, that article had a link about how Americans in general have a "sour" attitude about life. Hmmm, this is just my unscientific opinion, but could this perhaps have something to do with our media?

When was the last time you turned on the news and heard anything good? When was the last time you heard a politician give a speech about how great America is? (Oh, I miss Ronnie!) Everything is presented to us as BAD. Global warming - we're all going to DIE! The Iraq war - we hear about every dead American soldier, but not much about progress or dead insurgents (silly- we actually have to hear about these things directly from the troops...); gas prices will be $6 a gallon soon! (can we be any more alarmist in that respect? - nice of the media to scare us about high prices without asking the obvious questions about why we don't have more refineries in America or haven't started drilling in Alaska 8 years ago); good news about the economy is downplayed (our extremely low unemployment rate, strong stock market, etc. etc.), yet all we seem to hear is agonoy over lost manufacturing jobs. I could go on - but are you seeing my point? All we hear is negative, bad, doom, gloom every day. What the hell are we supposed to be happy about???

UPDATE: Urrrrghghh: Reason 5,738 why Congress sucks.

I'm starting a new "Throw the Bums Out" movement - who's with me? I say wipe the whole slate clean - get rid of every a** in Congress, Republican and Democrat, and start afresh with people who might actually do something GOOD for the country, for a big change!

Will Republicans make such a HUGE mistake?

It dawned on my why the Democrats want this amnesty/immigration bill passed, but I'm still befuddled in attempting to discern any reasoning from Republicans...

From a political perspective, because President Bush is supporting this immigration bill, the country is by and large considering this a Republican bill. (Let's ignore the fact that Democrat-controlled Congress has to vote on it) I can't remember the last time that I have seen such unified opposition to a bill/issue by the American populace in BOTH parties. Not only does this bill anger conservatives and Republicans like me into a sense of betrayal and outrage, but when the 12 million becomes 36 million 10 years from now, it will be the Republicans and their immigration bill that most will blame. (except, of course, the illegals, who will be enjoying our welfare and social programs too much not to support the Democrats) I hope that our so-called leaders wake up and realize, that in addition to being extremely detrimental to our country at large, this bill hints of political suicide.

Of course the other reason Democrats want amnesty is to change the electorate. They don't like America, that's the plain truth - but that's another post.

The American Thinker (a GREAT site!) had a post the other day about what they feel is a "Conservative Sellout." I highly suggest reading this entire article.

Some excerpts:

It is a truth not often spoken but plainly obvious that many liberals do not like their own country and consequently pursue policies which they hope will harm it. Nothing could illustrate this better than the current immigration bill, for how can the open borders and amnesty be good for America? Only a madman or a seriously deluded republican could ever think so.

The first part liberals heed with fanatical zeal as they would rather shout ‘bigot' and ‘racist' a thousand times than to give one inch to the other side. The latter part they also keep close to their hearts but in a perfectly inverted manner, ready as they are always to give in where honor and good sense are concerned. This is why they almost never tell the truth or advocate policies that actually work. Case in point: open borders and amnesties.

If anything, the Democrats must have been shocked by how easily they got everything they could ever dream of in that grand ‘compromise.' The Republican sellout was complete and, somewhat surprisingly, entirely voluntary. The Democrats received it all on a silver platter and they did not even have to dance for it.

Immigration Chaos

Amnesty 1 didn't pass muster, but that's not stopping President Bush from trying to push Amnesty 2 through Congress. This is so appalling to me, I can scarcely believe my elected representatives can be so out of touch. Maybe if they enforced the bill they passed LAST summer, that one about building the wall and trying to enforce our border protection, we'd give some credence to their new plan to "fix" the illegal immigration problem. (Apparently, the only problem Congress sees is that 12 million is hardly enough illegals for us to support!)

Ann has a great column this week, specifically focusing on Border Patrol agents Ramos and Alonso and how Bush has no qualms about prosecuting Legal Hispanic citizens; it's just the illegals he wants to protect. (Ramos and Alonso, you'll remember, were the two agents sentenced to 10 years in prison for the non-fatal shooting of an illegal alien caught in the process of smuggling drugs across our "border.")

Some excerpts:

As I understand it, you're also supposed to not cross the border illegally from Mexico with a van full of drugs. But the Bush administration has no interest in enforcing those laws. Ninety-eight percent of illegal aliens captured crossing the border illegally are not prosecuted. Those drugs are doing the job American drugs just won't do!

...

In addition to giving the illegal alien drug smuggler full immunity to testify against U.S. Border Patrol agents, the government gave him taxpayer-funded medical care for his buttocks wound, an unconditional border-crossing card, the right to sue the U.S. for "civil rights" violations, and a GAP gift card. The drug runner is also on the short-list to replace Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

He's now suing the U.S. for $5 million, but the Bush administration is hoping to bargain him down to $10 million.
...

That border-crossing card came in handy when the winged illegal alien brought in another load of drugs a short eight months later — for which he has still not been charged, nearly two years later. Who does he think he is? Rep. William Jefferson?

...

I didn't realize "living in the shadows" meant in the shadows of palm trees around the pools at taxpayer-funded houses.

UPDATE: Trent Lott disses talk radio because they are more in tune with how Americans feel about this amnesty bill than our president or Congress - he calls the medium that has done more for Republican politicians getting elected than any campaigning chumps like Trent have done recently. At least everyone does not agree with this complete hypocritical wimp...

excerpt:

Comments by Republican senators on Thursday suggested that they were feeling the heat from conservative critics of the bill, who object to provisions offering legal status. The Republican whip, Trent Lott of Mississippi, who supports the bill, said: “Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.” {excuse me - are you sure that was Trent Lott talking? Because it sounded more like Algore or Hillary or the Swimmer...}

At some point, Mr. Lott said, Senate Republican leaders may try to rein in “younger guys who are huffing and puffing against the bill.” {What, Trent, you mean the ones not totally corrupted by Washington yet?}

Senator Jim DeMint, Republican of South Carolina, welcomed the president’s support for more spending on border security, but said, “There’s no reason why we should be forced to tie amnesty to it.”

ChiComs Helping the Terrorists

The Washington Times is reporting that new intelligence reveals China is sending arms to Iraqi insurgents and the Taliban in Afghanistan. Wow - One would hope sending arms to our enemies that are used to kill our soldiers would at least provoke some reprecussions...

Ditch the Prius; Buy a Hummer

Here's the article Rush mentioned yesterday, outlining how a Prius is actually LESS environmentally friendly than a Hummer! A good read.

Education System out of control

This is what happens when liberals take over our education system: Field trips to Planned Parenthood for MIDDLE SCHOOL kids.

I bet these kids can't tell you what decade the Civil War was fought or who our enemies were in WW1, but at least they know where to go if they need an abortion.

A Younger, Slimer Algore

Apparently, the Iraq War was wrong because we should have taken terrorist-supporting Saddam out in the '80s. Apparently, Iraq has been supporting and helping terrorists for years and years. So if, say... we were fighting a war on terror after 9/11, maybe Iraq was a good place to start? Hey, don't listen to me, listen to Algore.

Excerpt:

...Saddam had every reason to assume that Bush [senior] would look the other way no matter what he did. He had already launched poison gas attacks repeatedly, and Bush looked the other way. He had already conducted EXTENSIVE TERRORISM activities, and Bush had looked the other way. He was already deeply involved in the effort to acquire nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, and Bush knew it, but he looked the other way."

-Algore, 1992, in a rant about how the first President Bush didn't do enough to stop the terrorist supporting, WMD-seeking Iraqi dictator. The same Iraqi dictator 2007 Algore & crew rails against the current President Bush for ousting.

No Amnesty Yet

At least Congress could agree on something - this massive Bush/McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill is appalling to most law-abiding American citizens.

Anyone see Geraldo on Fox & Friends this morning? Needless to say, I'm sure it riled most people up. Especially when he talked about the poor 12 million illegal law breakers here who might get "terrorized" by the law if we don't grant them (and their extended famililes) immediate amnesty. When is he going to start standing up for the murderers and thieves who are also, like illegal immigrants, subject to be "terrorized" by the law?

No Child Left Behind - Really!

The results are in and Bush's "No Child Left Behind" policies seem to be working (particularly in Michigan). Of course, no one wants to rush to credit his policy as being responsible for the higher test scores or the narrowing of the racial gap in these scores... Imagine - making schools ACCOUNTABLE might actually be working!!!

"Treason Times" stoops to new lows

Check out the home page of the NY Times today - see anything missing? How about that massive plot to blow up fuel lines at JFK???? A plot to kill thousands of Americans and wreak havoc in this newspaper's hometown, as well as with our national economy. (I heard Rush today saying that the terror plot story was on page 30 of the printed edition)

Yes, I supposed who won the tennis match IS more important than a major terror plot uncovered! Wow - there's a reason people call them the "Treason Times." Could they be any more transparent? To not report on a major event that may have been unearthed because of the very methods they want to curtail? (think the Patriot Act, Club Gitmo, etc.)

Now if someone had leaked to the Times that we hadn't caught the suspects yet and wanted to continue surveillance, I'm sure that it would be front page news. They always like to give our enemies a big running start...

It was a good thing I turned on FoxNews on Saturday, or I'm not sure I would have known about the plot at all. (CNN mentioned it briefly every now and then - I'm sure they had more important things to discuss like Paris Hilton's jail sentence)

Atlas does a nice job of summing up the threats we face and the liberal media's complete refusal to acknowledge them.

Just for the record - the media does not approve of our methods of uncovering plots like this, does not think plots of this nature (potentially thousands dead) are worth making much of a fuss about on the front page, does not even think we're really in significant danger of another attack... But you damn well better be sure that they will be all over blaming Bush if anything ever did happen!

Harsh Words from Peggy

When Peggy Noonan speaks, I listen, that's all I can say. She has some harsh words for our president, which I feel are well deserved after his latest critiques of the only 29% or so of people who still supported him...

And of course, Ann has a thing or two to say about this issue...
