January is...
...sanctity of life month. Just thought you'd want to know.
And for those of you that don't know, yours truly here is expecting a new baby girl! She'll burst onto the scene on or around May 1st, 2006. Reading about what happens in utero is astonishing, to say the least, and pokes holes in anyone's belief that a "fetus" isn't a "life" before it's born.
From Psychology Today:
>
By nine weeks, a developing fetus can hiccup and react to loud noises. By the end of the second trimester it can hear.
Just as adults do, the fetus experiences the rapid eye movement (REM) sleep of dreams.
>The fetus savors its mother's meals, first picking up the food tastes of a culture in the womb.Among other mental feats, the fetus can distinguish between the voice of Mom and that of a stranger, and respond to a familiar story read to it.
Even a premature baby is aware, feels, responds, and adapts to its environment.
I've personally heard my daughter's heart beat at 3 weeks. Three weeks, people. You can legally abort a 3-week old baby. They call it a cluster of cells or something. I've SEEN her heart beat. Watched her legs move. It sickens me that she can still legally be murdered in this country.
More from ProLife.com...pretty cool pictures, too.
I'd like to continue with Sanctity of Life updates this month - if the Sage will let me, that is. :)
