Democrats' pathetic attempts to smear Alito.

Problem is, it might work. Even though it's pathetic and transparent and mean spirited.

What they're alleging has absolutely NOTHING to do with ANYTHING. If it did, then Robert Byrd wouldn't be a US Senator, John Kerry wouldn't be one either, and Ted Kennedy would be wearing concrete shoes at the bottom of a lake somewhere.

When I read things like this I honestly wonder where in the world these people are coming from. And do they really think we're so stupid as to nod our heads like collective sheep and say "yeah, yeah, thank GOD we have Democrats to keep judges like Alito from sullying our court". Do they?

From Drudge:

**Exclusive** Senate Democrats have put into place a plan that includes one last push to take down the nomination of Judge Samuel A. Alito as he heads into his confirmation hearing next week, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. Senate Democrats intend to zero in on Alito’s alleged enthusiastic membership to an organization, they will charge, that was sexist and racist! MORE Democrats hope to tie Alito to Concerned Alumni of Princeton (CAP).

And, of course, Robert "KKK" Byrd will be leading the charge since he has so much experience in the matter...

"Last push to take down...." "Hope to tie". Why do I get the mental image of a bunch of children at a sleepover putting shaving cream on a kid that had the misfortune of falling asleep before everyone else?

Alito will testify that he joined CAP as a protest over Princeton policy that would not allow the ROTC on campus. THE DRUDGE REPORT has obtained a Summer 1982 article from CAP’s PROSPECT magazine titled “Smearing The Class Of 1957” that key Senate Democrats believe could thwart his nomination! In the article written by then PROSPECT editor Frederick Foote, Foote writes: “The facts show that, for whatever reasons, whites today are more intelligent than blacks.”

Not to excuse this, but they admit that Alito didn't write that. A little perspective, please. (and frankly I'd love to get my hands on the original article to see Foote's comments in context...)

Senate Democrats expect excerpts like this written by other Princeton graduates will be enough to torpedo the Alito nomination. One Democrat Hill staffer involved in their strategy declared, “Put a fork in Scalito. It doesn’t matter that Alito didn’t write it, it doesn’t matter that Alito wasn’t that active in the group, Foote wrote it in CAP’s magazine and we are going to make Alito own it.”

"One Democrat Hill Staffer", "other Princeton graduates". More info please? Who are these "staffers" and "graduates"?

This is typical, too. "I don't care that Alito didn't 'write it' or that he wasn't 'active'. We're going to make him 'own it'"? You and what army, exactly. Are they honestly that desperate? That's what I hear. Desperation. Pathetic.

However, a Republican insider contacted about the situation said, “It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. The reason CAP was formed was to protest against people like Drujack who think killing chickens is similar to what happened at Auschwitz. I don’t understand how what a guy named Foote wrote in some magazine has anything to do with Alito.”

Well...DUH. (who's this "Republican insider"? Karl Rove? heh.)

MORE The final witness on the Senate Democrats newly unveiled witness list for Alito’s hearing is freelance journalist Stephen Dujack. Dujack is a ’76 Princeton graduate and a longtime critic of CAP. Dujack was the author of a highly critical 1986 op-ed in the PRINCETON ALUMNI WEEKLY titled “The Contradictions Of CAP.” Dujack slammed the group for its policies opposing Princeton's decision to admit women and minorities.

Dujack now says: "Judge Alito will have to explain to the Senate Judiciary Committee why he paid dues to an outfit... that was overtly racist and sexist for its entire 14-year existence — at times passionately so, too." Dujack adds: "There is no way for Alito's backers to claim his association with the organization does not imply endorsement of its views, for opposition to women and minorities at Princeton was as central to CAP as opposition to drunken driving is to MADD."

Your point is...what, exactly? Shall we put all Senate democrats and democrat Congressmen under the same filters? Shall we? Does the fact that Dujack has been a "long time critic" of CAP have anything to do with his comments now? Y'think, maybe?
However, THE DRUDGE REPORT has learned the Democrats’ star witness comes with baggage of his own.

*gasp* No. You're kidding. Really? I'm shocked.

Dujack penned an op-ed in 2003 that compared farm animals to Holocaust victims and gave money to the Kerry presidential campaign.

Ah, Kerry. How did I know his name would come up somehow in this.

In the April 21, 2003 LOS ANGELES TIMES, Dujack wrote: “Like the victims of the Holocaust, animals are rounded up, trucked hundreds of miles to the kill floor and slaughtered.” Dujack went on, “To those who defend the modern-day Holocaust on animals by saying that animals are slaughtered for food and give us sustenance, I ask: if the victims of the Holocaust had been eaten, would that have justified the abuse and murder?”

And that's SO much better than belonging to an organization where one of the members wrote that whites are more intelligent than blacks (if that's really what was written and if that's really what the intent was - again, I'd love to see that quote in context). Because Alito is such a powerful person that he somehow made Foote write the article by some kind of mind-control beam from outer space. But that's okay - when you're accusing a Republican of something you don't have to worry about your sources. Just keep throwing stuff and hope something will stick.

THE DRUDGE REPORT has also uncovered a purported $2,000 donation Dujack made to John Kerry’s presidential campaign in 2004. Developing....

There's good ol' horseface again. His lying, unscrupulous butt needs to learn the meaning of the phrase "lay low".

Additional information from The Nation. Including rhetorical, silly questions such as:
Is the Princeton graduate slated to replace the first female Supreme Court Justice proud of his affiliation with an organization that attempted to prevent women and minorities from receiving the same education he did? If not, why did he flaunt his membership in it? What does this say about his character, and about the kind of place he would ultimately like America to be?

I'm definitely against institutions that discriminate against women and minorities - don't get me wrong, but to make this an issue? Is this the best they can do? BJ Clinton smoked pot, raped women, and paved the way for 9/11. Sheets Byrd was affiliated (I'm being kind - he was actually the Grand Dragon) with the KKK. Teddy Kennedy drowned a woman. Jimmy Carter committed treason. The Supreme court itself has bastardized and twisted our constitution. And all they can find on Alito is that he belonged to an organization that wasn't too thrilled with allowing women into their midst. Not that he, specifically had an issue with this, but that some of the members of CAP did.

More on this Dujack character and "snags" in the Democrats' "strategy" from Lucianne.com (article from Fox News makes it sound like "affirmative action" is the issue here, not specifically allowing women to attend? Interesting.). The Lucianne.com link is worth it just for the comments.

Like this gem from commenter "AcidKibitzer":
Not only that, but the PAD (Party of Abortion and Defeat) whackos, like Upchuck Schumer, are going to claim that Judge Alito sternly and loudly lectured Jimmy Hoffa, Elvis, the Wizard of Oz, and Judge Crater from the bench. Schumer claims he has a secret tape.

*snicker* "PAD". That's a keeper.
