New Year, new...
...nope, same old stuff.
James Risen's inevitable book reveals "secret war operations".
Powerline has a few things to say about liberals and the liberties they take with semantics.
If you don't read Lucianne, you must. The comment thread here discussing this article from the Washington Times is very entertaining. (a sample - from "nightvision", "Yo, Dim's. I know you're down there. I can smell ya from up here. When you're in a hole, STOP DIGGING!")
On Fox News this morning a Michigan congressman said that Congress was briefed on all surveillance operations and plans for protecting national security - and wondered what part of the briefing his democrat congressmen "slept through". According to this congressman, it was absolutely, perfectly clear what was happening, when, and why. And that nobody raised objections at the time.
I'm so sick of this non-story I could just...well...go blog about something else.
Let's please remember that the attacks on 9/11 were unprecedented. Catastrophic. Our response is and will be unprecedented. There will be mistakes made as in all reality this policy of "find terrorists and kill them so we don't get attacked again on our soil" is new for us as a country. Democrats before Bush didn't respond at ALL and look what happened. We are doing whatever we need to do and frankly I'm disgusted with democrats who think we should sit on our hands and try to "understand" the "insurgents".
They should be proposing agressive plans to find terrorists, monitor them, gather intelligence, and keep us safe. Are they? No. They're whining about the terrorists' RIGHTS. Calling us the big bad terrorists for daring to eavesdrop on them to protect ourselves.
I say keep it up, Mr. President. Unfortunately it might kill his chances in '08, but I think that's a chance he's willing to take. :)
Hey, and Happy New Year!!
